Special Containment Procedures: Under no circumstances is SCP-4962 allowed to leave the state of Iowa. Agents assigned to SCP-4962 are permitted to use any means necessary up to amnestization, grievous bodily harm, and sabotage on a psychological level.

If SCP-4962 displays any intentions to leave the state of Iowa, it is to be amnestized and placed in a low wage position at a Foundation front company within the state. During this process, SCP-4962 should be prompted to begin writing fictional stories on an online forum, which is to be staffed by Foundation Agents.

Research into alternative means of containing SCP-4962 is ongoing.

Description: SCP-4962 is an adult male humanoid who manifested within the borders of the state of Iowa in the United States of America at some point in 1992. Attempts to contain SCP-4962 have failed, as local reality has warped to prevent agents from capturing it by conventional means. If SCP-4962 removed from the geographical borders of Iowa for any period of time, reality within the state will begin to atrophy and then collapse in on itself, theoretically threatening the universe itself.

SCP-4962 displays an inability to interact with the other residents of Iowa, with this effect extending to all persons who would consider Iowa their home. While it is capable of making physical contact and being verbal heard by others, it is largely ignored, suggesting a specialized antimemetic effect.

Because of this, agents are forced to interact and monitor SCP-4962 from outside of the state, which necessitated a digital connection, leading to SCP-4962's initial amnestization and subsequent manipulation on the Foundation-owned forum.

Addendum: On 13/1/2019, SCP-4962 left Iowa for three weeks, causing the loss of several Foundation Sites in Iowa and was reclassified as a Keystone Class Entity1. After SCP-4962 was recontained, it was given a psychological analysis and found to be suffering from depression and anxiety related to its containment within the state. Following this, agents applied Class-C amnestics and removed the last two years from its memory before returning it to its home.

Addendum: On 21/8/2019, SCP-4962 was informed of its anomalous powers, as well as its situation, in an attempt to enact voluntary containment. On 1/10/2019, SCP-4962 was found in the fetal position in its bed, unresponsive to stimuli initially, but was eventually restored to consciousness.

After this incident, the Ethics Committee ruled making SCP-4962 aware of its abilities and situation was detrimental to containment as well as its well being. The containment procedures were updated and SCP-4962 was amnesticized.
